Sometimes you just know medical care is different. It’s in the smiles, in the spiritual touch, in the technology and environment that help you know you have made the right choice. In Kansas City, that hospital network is Shawnee Mission Health (SMH). With a philosophy of health care dating back to the mid-1800s, SMH focuses on whole-person care that is Much more than medicine.
SMH is hiring physicians to join our network. We are interested in speaking with physicians in all specialties and encourage you to take a closer look and find out if SMH is right for you. To learn more, contact Rebecca Bailey at 913‑789‑3943 or Rebecca.Bailey@shawneemission.org.
SMH serves nearly 70,000 patients in its emergency departments annually, has the area's first accredited Chest Pain Emergency Center and delivers more babies each year at Shawnee Mission Medical Center than any other hospital in the metropolitan area. The network employs more than 3,000 local residents and supports an exceptional staff of 700 physicians representing 50 medical specialties, the largest medical staff of any full-service hospital in Kansas City.
At SMH, patient experience is a key priority across the entire organization. Every associate and physician can make a difference in how a patient perceives their care. SMH has implemented several initiatives focused on customer service throughout the organization. As a result, the hospital has the highest HCAHPS scores in the metro.

It started with a simple idea back in 1962: Provide quality health care for residents of growing Johnson County. More than 50 years later, SMH has expanded its reach and draws patients from throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area and around the Midwest. With the Shawnee Mission Medical Center campus in Merriam, our Prairie Star campus in Lenexa, physician offices through Johnson and Wyandotte counties and CorporateCare locations across the metro, SMH is more than just a hospital campus. We’re a network of health care facilities and providers, working to exceed expectations by delivering quality care with compassion.
